A rotating floor of authenticated designer pieces — handbags, ready-to-wear, shoes, and the everyday designer staples that deserve a second life. New inventory arrives weekly.
French Cuff operates as a traditional consignment boutique. Consignors bring their pieces to the shop, we authenticate and price them, and they go on the floor. If and when a piece sells, the consignor receives a percentage of the sale price. The boutique model means the inventory is always changing — what was on the rack last Tuesday may be gone by Thursday, and something new will have taken its place.
The floor is organised loosely by category: designer bags and accessories near the front, ready-to-wear through the middle of the shop, shoes and smaller accessories along the back wall. We don't list inventory online or hold pieces sight-unseen, so browsing in person is the actual experience. That's intentional. Consignment at its best rewards the person who shows up.
The mix shifts week to week, but there are a few categories we reliably carry. Designer bags are the anchor of the shop — typically a mix of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Coach, Prada, and Tory Burch, with the occasional Hermes or Saint Laurent piece. Each bag is authenticated in-house before it goes on display. We check the stitching, hardware, canvas alignment, serial numbers, and date codes, and pieces that don't pass go back to the consignor.
Ready-to-wear runs from true investment pieces (Chanel blazers, silk Vince blouses, Theory suiting) down through the everyday-designer range where most of the volume lives. Theory, J.Crew Collection, Ann Taylor Loft at its best, Joie, Equipment, Banana Republic Heritage — these are the labels that show up most often in the $30 to $120 range and represent some of the strongest value per dollar in the shop.
New inventory lands on the floor throughout the week, with the largest drops typically on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as the backroom catches up with recent drop-offs. If you're looking for the widest selection, those are the best days to visit. The new arrivals page gives an idea of what categories and labels have come in recently, though the specifics change fast enough that in-person browsing is the only reliable way to see what's actually there.
A few regulars email ahead to ask about specific pieces or labels. If you're after a particular designer or item type, send a note to [email protected] and we'll let you know when something matching comes in.
Walk-ins are welcome Tuesday through Saturday during shop hours. There's no appointment needed for browsing. Payment is cash or card; we don't hold pieces over the phone. If you see something, the practical advice is to buy it on the spot — consignment inventory doesn't wait, and a piece that catches your eye on a Tuesday afternoon may have sold by the time you come back Friday.
Prices are set at intake and reflect the condition, label, retail value, and current market demand for that specific piece. Handbags and designer statement pieces are priced to reflect their resale market. Everyday designer ready-to-wear is typically priced well below what the same piece would cost at a secondhand retailer online. We're not trying to replicate eBay pricing. We're trying to price things fairly for both the consignor and the buyer.
Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Coach, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Burberry, Saint Laurent, Celine, Givenchy. All authenticated before going on the floor. The handbag selection is where the shop earns its reputation, and it's the category that draws shoppers from outside Sacramento specifically.
The racks cover a wide range from true designer investment pieces down through premium everyday brands. On the higher end: Chanel, Escada, St. John, Akris. In the strong middle: Theory, Vince, Joie, Equipment, Rebecca Taylor, Eileen Fisher. In the everyday-designer range: J.Crew Collection, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic Heritage, Talbots, White House Black Market. Our consignment finds guide covers the best categories under $100.
Shoes come in seasonally and sell quickly. Stuart Weitzman, Ferragamo, Prada, Gucci, and Louboutin appear from time to time. Coach and Kate Spade are more common. The selection is always limited and highly variable — shoes are the category where the reward-for-showing-up model applies most directly.
A rotating case of estate and designer jewellery — pearls, gold pieces, enamel brooches, the occasional signed piece. Silk and wool scarves from Hermes, Burberry, and others. The jewellery case gets picked over fast. Check it when you come in rather than on the way out.
If you have pieces of your own to bring in, the consigning page explains the process. Drop-off appointments most weekdays; we quote in-store; pay-out by bank deposit once items sell. We accept designer and better-quality everyday pieces in clean, wearable condition. We do not accept fast fashion, poor-condition items, or pieces from brands outside our typical range. When in doubt, email a photo and we'll advise before you make the trip.
The shop is at 2701 K Street in Midtown Sacramento, Tuesday through Saturday. Street parking available on K and on the surrounding blocks. Email [email protected] for specific enquiries. No phone reservations for individual pieces; in-person shopping only.
